The ACT conference 2008 – Manchester

David Blunkett gave the key note speech at this year's conference. He spoke of the developments in Citizenship Education and youth crime in the context of the television programme Banged Up in which he was involved.

A wide range of workshops were on offer including an exploration of the Nuffield Foundation resources on the use of animals in research. The materials were looked at as a model for dealing with other controversial issues. They offered strategies for helping students to look at the world through other people's eyes - something that is difficult to do – but is a key to Citizenship education.
