Consumer power: a question of Nike

This series of lessons has been designed as an Assessment for Learning activity, using newspaper articles produced by year 8 students about Nike factories in the Philippines.

This series of lessons has been designed as an Assessment for Learning activity, using newspaper articles produced by Year 8 students about Nike factories in the Philippines. Students are asked to identify and correct bias in articles written by a Year 8 group. They then rewrite the articles from their own point of view which they justifying from evidence.

The student work can also be used as the basis for a Professional Development exercise to assess both the Geography and Citizenship content of the articles.

The series of lessons is aimed at Year 8 but can be used by any KS3 group. It consists of four 50 minute lessons.
