Citizenship: running a campaign
Developing a campaign proposal
In the Campaign students develop a proposal to their local Council to persuade it to develop a new sports facility.
You could adapt this idea to a current local concern.
The final class presentation could be made to a local Councillor or a representative of the Council. The local media could be interested. It would be good to take the class to the Council offices.

The pack of materials consists of the following:
- Teacher's Guide to assist you in getting the most from the materials, and the links to the Programme of Study;
- General Briefing Sheet, which all members of the class should receive, which outlines the aims and suggests four 'expert' groups that the class will form;
- Four 'expert' group sheets - Who decides?, Will the community win or lose if the plans go ahead?, Who pays? and How do you influence the decision?
- Four sets of Fact Sheets which link to the 'expert' group sheets.
Most of these documents are Word files, but the Fact Sheets are Acrobat files.
