History of the NHS

The development of healthcare is a key part of the curriculum. It provides an effective basis for investigating choices that have to be made by the government.

It asks students to consider the factors that influence the health care provided by the NHS in Britain today.

This decisions-making activity is intended to take one or two lessons depending on their length. It has been presented as one lesson but issues about health spending might form a second lesson. They follow on from a study of the development of the NHS within the GCSE SHP course in Medicine and Health.
