Housing: L2 What are Future Geographical Imaginations?

Students will learn:

  • to reflect critically on the quality of geographical information that they and others use to inform their views about recycling and sustainable development

Starter

Brainstorm the ideas from last lesson to refresh memories.

Main activity

Students are given individual copies of Resource 2, the census map and newspaper article. Working in groups, they analyse the map using Resource 3, Futures Frame. They are asked to:Housing: detached Edwardian house

  • identify the current situation and suggest their preferred and probable futures for the UK in 2021;
  • suggest the actions necessary to make their probable future into their preferred future.

Plenary

The class share their list of actions and negotiate an agreed list of 10 actions necessary for change.

Together, they discuss the actions can they influence and decide how they would go about it.
