Planning a Festival of Sport

A series of lessons suitable for KS4

Introduction

Planning a Festival of Sport makes a very active contribution to the Citizenship curriculum. Students need to be away of why they are doing it and the contribution they are making to the community if it is to be genuine Citizenship.

Students plan, organise and run a sports festival for local primary school children. Every aspect of the festival is up to them to decide upon and organise, from whom to invite to how to end the festival.

Teachers may have to control certain aspects of the festival (date, time etc.)
