Maths: Crime in ...

This activity is appropriate for KS4 as it provides a context for understanding the outcomes of drawing best fit lines. It could also be used in post 16 courses where students are developing an understanding of correlation.

Students are asked to work with information from the Office of National Statistics, Neighbourhood website, which provides data at a very local level. The Crime Statistics website shows the breakdown of crime for local authorities across the country.

Data is provided in an Excel spreadsheet for ease of manipulation. There are data sets here for London and Yorkshire.

If you put an activity together for your local area, please email it to Contact Us so it can be added to the site.
