Fit and healthy
Fitness and health play a key role in the KS3 Science curriculum and have a significant role in school life. The topic therefore makes a natural link with Citizenship.

The lesson can also be developed into a bigger activity by exploring attitudes of other students in order to develop a democratic perspective on the contribution of the school to the wellbeing of the students.

Keeping fit The unit Fit and healthy arrived at the right time, because there was a Channel 4 TV programme running in 2006 about Jamie Oliver going into Secondary schools to improve the school dinner menu. This has led to a lot of public debate about children's eating habits.
There has also been the Children's Food Bill going through the House of Commons. www.sustainweb.org/childrensfoodbill/ gives you details on how you can participate and you can view/download the actual bill here.
