History: Child Labour

The life and adventures of Michael Armstrong factory boy Child labour is a topic that combines core areas of the KS3 History programme of study with Citizenship. Everyone has a series of lessons which deal with child labour during the industrial revolution which will cover the key questions:
- How were children treated in the mills during the industrial revolution?
- Why did different groups of people hold different views on child labour?
The lessons in this unit turn the History experience into genuine Citizenship. They take the topic a little further by asking:
- Should we ban child labour today?
